Protect your Hair During Chemo

Dealing with cancer can take a toll both mentally and physically. During this time, the person is the most vulnerable especially when having to start chemotherapy treatments. When a patient goes through chemotherapy, not only does it kill the bad cancer cells, but it also kills the good cells in the body which often leaves the person having unwanted side effects like nausea and vomiting, excessive tiredness, and hair loss.

Hair loss or alopecia may not seem like an extreme side effect regarding chemotherapy compared to other ones, but to a person who might have cared about their hair, it can be everything. In a way, a part of them has been lost and now their sense of comfort is gone as they face this scary challenge of battling cancer. However, hair loss is only temporarily gone when you are on treatment, and it will grow back. Although, it may take some time for it to fully get back to normal.

Ways to Manage Hair Loss During Chemotherapy

Though the amount of hair loss does vary from person to person and what type of treatment you are receiving, there are ways to manage this during chemotherapy:

Cut your hair short. If you experience hair loss during chemotherapy, usually it will fall out during different times with varied strands. Some people will prefer losing shorter hair than longer.

Wear a wig. Before you lose your hair, purchase a wig, and get a stylist to create the best match. There are stylists who specialize in creating wigs for alopecia. Health insurance companies may even be able to cover the wig as well with a prescription.

Caps and scarves. This is typically the most comfortable and easiest option. There are also custom items that are used exclusively for people undergoing chemotherapy.

Take it easy with hairstyles. Your hair might be prone to breakage and loss during chemotherapy, so it might be better to avoid styles, such as, braids and ponytails until you have completed the treatment and maybe a few months after once your hair has fully regrown.

Use a cooling cap.Cooling caps may help to reduce your risk for hair loss through a process called scalp hypothermia. This process constricts the vessels on the scalp and reduces the amount of chemotherapy treatment that reaches the hair follicles.

Now there is a Shampoo & Serum Gel That Can Help

There are not many hair products on the market that have been proven to help with hair loss associated with chemotherapy. And certainly not one such as Thymuskin® Forte. This product comes in two different formulations: a shampoo and a serum. Thymuskin® Forte is unique because it uses a special active ingredient called GKL-02 which blocks harmful enzymes which leads to prolongation of the natural hair growth cycle and less thinning of the hair follicles.

Thymuskin® Forte has been clinically proven to minimize the effects of chemotherapy-induced alopecia and maintains hair conditions for patients undergoing mild treatments. Thymuskin® Forte can be used before, during, and after chemotherapy treatment and is used as a two-step therapy process where the shampoo is used first to clean the scalp, then the serum is applied to nourish and rejuvenate the hair follicles.

This is the time where bravery is often mixed with fear and doubts of the future. Let Thymuskin® Forte help you with your hair journey as you venture through your treatment and towards a healthier you.
